Aphthasol Paste

Aphthasol paste is indicated for the prompt, temporary relief and to promote prompt healing of canker sore pain .  Aphthsol is NOT an effective treatment of all mouth sores.   Cold sores (Herpes) are not the same as Canker Sores. To learn the detailed differences between cold sores and canker sores, visit here. Canker Sores, (apthous ulcers) are small, shallow ulcers that form in the mouth and sometimes make it difficult to eat or talk. No one knows the exact cause of canker sores. These mouth sores are thought to be caused by trauma to tissues in the mouth or irritation by acidic or spicy foods or drinks. Other causes could be a weak immune system or iron defficiency.  Cold Sores (fever blisters) are caused by a form of herpes (a viral infection), and will not respond to treatment by Aphthasol. You may have a cold sore if you have any of these symptoms.

  • A painful sore or sores inside your mouth - on the tongue, soft palate, or inside your cheeks.
  • A tingling or burning sensation prior to the appearance of the sores.
  • Sores in your mouth that are round, white, or gray in color, with a red edge or border.

If they problem is severe, you may experience a fever, general feeling of sluggishness, or swolen lymph nodes.  Canker sores (aphthous ulcers) are not contagious. Cold Sores (Herpes) are.
